Ms Beverley Cairns, of Haslingden, died at her home on Friday June 4, aged 72.

She was a payroll clerk, but retired as a bakery assistant.

Beverley loved the Liverpool Football Club, reading, crossword puzzles and her grandchildren.

Mother of the late Emma Cairns, who died in December 1981 at the age of three months, she leaves her husband Patrick Cairns, her son John Cairns, her daughter-in-law Davina, her daughter-in-law Claire Cairns and her grandchildren Louis and Amelia Cairns.

The funeral was on Wednesday June 16 at Holy Trinity Church, Stacksteads, followed by cremation in Burnley, led by Reverend Derrick Allen.

Donations if desired to Rossendale Hospice (Hospice at Home.

Mrs Evelyn May Butterworth, nee O’Brien, of Mitton Road, Whalley, passed away at Croft Rest Home, Whalley on Saturday June 5 at the age of 76.

She was a waitress at the Northern School and Britannia CP a sewing machinist, and before her retirement she was a housekeeper at Burwood Care Home in Bacup.

Evelyn enjoyed knitting, gardening, family trees, and vacationing in the UK, Ireland and Europe in a motorhome.

Mother of the late Mark Butterworth, who died in October 1995, she leaves her husband David Bradley Butterworth, her son Paul Butterworth, her daughter Leanne Zoe Sharpe, her granddaughter Ellie Nicole Wroe, her son-in-law Kevin Sharpe, her sister Sandra Beardsworth and her stepmother -brother. John Beardsworth, nieces and nephews, and all of his many friends at the Reminiscent Café, Bacup.

The funeral was held on Thursday June 17th at Burnley Crematorium.

No flowers, donations if desired to Mearley Fold Daycare, Clitheroe.

Sadly, after a courageous battle with illness, Margaret Day (née Riding) passed away on June 3.

A loving wife for Michael and a loving mother for Christopher and Liam, a grandmother for Christopher, Josh and Freya, a great grandmother for Olivia and Evelyn, a sister for June, a stepmother for Angela and a friend loving for so many people. .

Margaret loved her whole family and always enjoyed family reunions. Margaret was also a passionate gardener.

Maurice Metham passed away peacefully at Turfcote Nursing Home on Saturday June 5, at the age of 83.

A man of Haslingden all his life, Maurice previously worked for British Rail before joining United Utilities where he worked as a plant maintenance operator until his retirement.

Maurice loved to go out with friends for meals and was a member of St Peter’s Church, Laneside for many years.

Another of his hobbies was walking and he enjoyed fine wines.

A former Lancashire Rifleman, he served with the regiment in Cyprus and Germany.

He was also a longtime member of the Royal British Legion.

Brother of Eleanor, he leaves several nieces and nephews as well as a cousin Catrina.

He will be sadly missed by many local friends.

A funeral service will be held at St Peter’s Laneside on Tuesday, June 22 at 10:30 am, led by Reverend Stephen Brown, followed by a committal service at Accrington Crematorium at 11:40 am.

Family flowers only, but donations can be made through the family to the Lancashire Fusiliers Website Fund.

Linda Cropper died at her home in Irwell House Farm, Deerplay, surrounded by her family, on Friday June 4, at the age of 60.

Linda was a sheep farmer.

Previously, she worked in the shoe industry and the hospitality industry.

His greatest passions were his animals and his beloved horse, the Princess.

Linda leaves behind her mother Gill and her father Jim, her brothers Morgan and her sister-in-law Lesley and James and her partner Keeley, half-sisters Lucy and Anna and her nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles.

She will be sadly missed by all family and friends.

The funeral service was held on Friday June 18 at Lumb Baptist Church, led by Reverend Stephen Crook, followed by committal service at Accrington Crematorium.

Mr James Burton Wood, of Haslingden Hall, Haslingden, died at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday 3 June at the age of 92.

He was UK Sales Manager at Puleo Asia Ltd until his retirement.

James loved to dance in sequence, both playing and watching golf, and was a supporter of Burnley Football Club. James was also a member of the Baxenden Golf Club.

He leaves behind his daughters Janice, Barbara and Beverley, his partner Elaine, his sister Kath and his grandchildren Jessica and Jamie.

Beloved husband of the late Nellie.

The funeral was held on Thursday June 17th at Burnley Crematorium. Donations if desired to North West Air Ambulance.

Jim O’Connor passed away peacefully at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday, June 3, at the age of 70.

Jim worked for many years as an auto body specialist before running a shoe manufacturing business with his wife Susan.

He then worked in a fishing tackle store before his retirement.

Among his many interests were vacationing with Susan in their RV, and he was also an avid fisherman.

A loving father to daughter Michelle and son David, he was also a devoted grandfather to Shaunie, Daniel, Oliver and Joe, and a special great-grandfather to Lottie and Harper.

A Celebration of Life funeral service, given by Neil Overton, will be held at Acrington Crematorium on Monday, June 21 at 11 a.m.

Family flowers only please, but donations in memory of Jim can be made to the Alzheimer Society through the family.

Harry Francois

Mr. Harry Francis, of Olive House Nursing Home, Bacup, passed away suddenly on Saturday June 12, at the age of 90.

A short service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Wednesday 23 June at 11:30 am, followed by a cremation in Burnley at 12:15 pm, led by Mr. Peter Goulding.

Born in Grieve Fold, Bacup, he lived in the Broadclough neighborhood of Bacup for many years, before moving to Olive House.

Harry worked at E Sutton & Co. his entire working life, where he met his late wife, Margaret.

He enjoyed bowling, walking, socializing and discussing natural history, being a member of the Bacup Natural History Society (The Nat).

He leaves behind his brother Jack, his nieces Diane, Myrna, Pam, Janet and Sandra and their spouses, brother-in-law Donald, great-nieces and nephews and many friends.
