ST. PETERSBURG, Fla .– Will Packer, record Hollywood producer and native of St. Pete, is adding something new to his long list of accomplishments. This time it’s in the form of a building bearing his name.

During reunion week, Florida A&M University unveiled the school’s brand new amphitheater on Friday. It’s the Will Packer Performing Arts Amphitheater to be exact. Packer is a FAMU alumnus and one of the university’s biggest supporters. He donated $ 500,000 for the amphitheater’s nomination.
During his speech, he highlighted the names of other historically black college buildings that were there even before most of this generation was born.
âI had no idea I would be standing here. See, there’s nothing against Lee Hall. Nothing against Davis, Samson, Young or Gibbs but I didn’t know them. I haven’t met Perry or Paige but you all know me. I am one of you. It’s not just about me. It’s about us, âPacker said.
The film mogul was born and raised in St. Petersburg and graduated from St. Pete High School. He hopes this latest achievement will serve as an inspiration to children in the same neighborhoods where he grew up and beyond.
He has produced and produced a number of films including “Night School”, “Girls Trip”, “Ride Along 2” and many more.
Packer was also recently named the Official Producer of the 94th Academy Awards in 2022.
