HRC Showcase Theater schedules its 31st season

NEW LEBANON – HRC Showcase Theatre, formerly based in Hudson, New York, would like to welcome you to its 2022 2nd Staged Readings of Original Plays at its new location The Theater Barn in New Lebanon, New York. The new home of HRC for four productions in 2022.

This play, like the others, is one of the winners of the HRC National Playwriting Competition. It will be directed by artistic director Barbara Waldinger and performed by professional actors. A discussion featuring the playwright, director and cast members will follow each staged reading.

Join us: Saturday June 18, 7:30 p.m.: “How We Survived” by Pauline David-Sax

How We Survived, written by Pauline David-Sax and directed by Barbara Waldinger.

Synopsis: Freyda, a widow survivor of Nazi Germany, resists a claim for survivor benefits on behalf of her late husband. When her frustrated daughter takes matters into her own hands, she discovers proof of a shocking family secret.

Pauline David-Sax, playwright, children’s author and educator, won a Jane Chambers Playwriting Award in 2020 for How We Survived and was a finalist in the Henley Rose Playwright Competition for Women (2020-21). Her first picture book Everything in its Place is set to be published by Random House in July 2022.

HRC Artistic Director Barbara Waldinger will lead the cast, which includes Eileen Schuyler, Andrew Joffe, Caroline Kera and Isabel Sanchez. A discussion at the end of the reading will feature the playwright, director and actors.
