The VoD platform KVIFF.TV, launched last year by the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (read the news) and tested during the 55e edition of the event, will stream content and all the highlights from the next iteration of the gathering for fans around the world. The position of the VoD platform within the KVIFF ecosystem was strengthened after the KVIFF Group acquired a majority stake in the well-established Czech arthouse distribution company Aerofilms (read the news ). This move led to a merger between Aerofilms’ own VoD platform, Aerovod, and KVIFF.TV, increasing synergies between the festival and online and theatrical distribution. KVIFF.TV currently serves as the festival’s warm-up, showing films from previous editions, including Amelie [+see also:

“Together with colleagues from the festival’s programming team, we are closely following the current direction of world cinema, so with joy and cinephilic excitement, we welcome the opportunity to share the experiences of the films we have watched not only with the audience of the festival during the ten days of summer, but also with our new virtual audience 12 months a year.We want the audience of our online cinema to feel good, that’s why, in addition to quality films , we also offer a variety of alternative content that will reinforce the emotions they feel from the images seen and bring another dimension, no less exciting, to the extraordinary viewing experience,” says the artistic director. Karel Osh.
During the July event, KVIFF.TV will provide daily festival news and guest interviews. He will also introduce the directors who will screen films at the festival in a segment called Meet the Filmmakers, while the programming team, led by the artistic director himself, will present some choice advice in the Film Brief and Curator’s Choice segments. Additionally, KVIFF Legends will feature important festival personalities and Famous Festivals will offer a behind-the-scenes look at other revered film events.
In addition to news, interviews and inspiration, KVIFF.TV’s content will include competitions, slow-motion TV of festival hotspots and other key moments, including red carpet arrivals. All festival content will be available live and on demand in Czech or English, subtitled and free of charge. Additionally, the 56e KVIFF edition will launch the year-round operations of KVIFF.TV for the territories of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The platform will stream a selection of this year’s titles once the festival is over. The gathering plans to expand the platform to other Central and Eastern European countries in the near future.
The 56e edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will take place from July 1 to 9.
