The creative team is led by the award-winning team who gave the Hayes Sweet charity and Little shop of horrors, director Dean bryant, choreographer Andrew Hallsworth and musical director Andrew Worboys. They are joined by the scenographer Jeremy Allencostume designer Mel Liertz, lighting designer Veronique bennett and sound designer Dave bergman.

After the 2020 postponement, Merrily’s team were elated to finally be in rehearsal. Going into lockdown after just one glimpse was a devastating blow. That’s when everyone working on the show stepped up and held onto each other, and the hope of returning to the Hayes stage.“Said director Dean Bryant.”The bond between this team has grown so strong over the past 17 weeks of zoom rehearsals, quiz nights, birthday giveaways, and caring during this dark time. It’s amazing how we can announce that the entire magnificent cast will return, 119 days later, to continue the previews of Sondheim’s heartbreaking article on friendship.. “
Hayes Theater Co General Manager Will Harvey added: “We knew we had something special after the first glimpse of Merrily We Roll Along and we are delighted that audiences can finally experience one of the most touching and heartfelt musicals we have ever produced. We all missed the live performances so much, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the return to theaters than to be blown away by the captivating score and electrifying performances from our exceptional cast.. “

We ride happily is the heartbreaker of Sondheim’s musicals, watching how best friends lose their way as they fight to win in life. He follows a trio of friends – composer Franklin Shepard, his writing partner, lyricist Charley Kringas, and future novelist Mary Flynn. The three are set to change the world through words and music, but success has a way of opening doors that take them even further away from what they love and from whom they love. Famously said backwards, We ride happily is an emotional sleuth story that investigates how sold-out adults are forged from wide-eyed poets.

We ride happily brilliantly blends the excitement and energy of a behind-the-scenes musical with a poignant and moving contemporary story about the importance of staying true to one’s ideals. It’s a show that sparkles with the wit, humor and intensity that embody the spirit of New York. With a brilliant “Broadway-style” score and that deep insight one expects from any Sondheim venture, We ride happily is an uplifting and moving tale for anyone who has ever chased a dream.
