More actors for Jack Absolute Flies Again at the National Theater announced

Additional casting has been announced for the new comedy Jack Absolute flies againRichard Bean (One man, two Guvnors) and Olivier Chris (Emma) of the war play which was to be performed at the National Theatre.

Presented from July 2 on the Olivier stage, the Second World War setting follows a young air pilot, whose romantic plans do not go as planned.

Peter Forbes (Follies) joins the cast as Anthony Absolute alongside previously announced Laurie Davidson (Cats) like Jack Absolute, Caroline Quentin (Jonathan Creek) as Mrs. Malaprop, Natalie Simpson (Three sisters) as Lydia Languish, Kelvin Fletcher (Emmerdale) as Dudley Scunthorpe and Kerry Howard (Him and her) as Lucy.

James Corrigan, Theo Cowan, Shailan Gohil, Millie Hikasa, George Kemp, Joanne McGuinness, Jordan Metcalfe, Akshay Sharan, Tim Steed, Geoffrey Towers, Shona White and Helena Wilson are also joining the company. A few other actors are to be confirmed.

Director Emily Burns said: “absolute jack is a deliciously silly and exuberant reworking of The rivals which sends Sheridan’s play into the Battle of Britain and the adrenalized hedonism of a summer of love to death. Richard and Oli’s adaptation is a dream to work on – fresh, sharp, cheerful and full of heart. I am excited to begin.”

Set and costume design is by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, composer is Paul Englishby, sound design by Paul Arditti, and video and projection design by Jeff Sugg. Physical comedy director is Toby Park and choreography is by Lizzi Gee. The People Manager is Cara Nolan.

The show will also air on October 6, 2022, with a BSL performance on July 28, a sensory-adapted performance on August 2, audio-described performances on August 5 and 20, and captioned performances on August 6 and 11.
