You have questions. I have a few answers.
Q: Please tell me the name of the waltz performed in the movie “Downton Abbey” where the King, Queen and family all dance at the ball. I am so moved by this scene.
Reply: The ballroom sequence features Strauss waltzes, followed by the cutoff between the ballroom and Tom dancing with a woman on the balcony. (I’ll leave it there to avoid a few spoilers.) The music goes from Strauss to “Sunset Waltz,” by longtime “Downton” composer John Lunn; he told Town & Country magazine that the musical transition was “quite difficult because it has to be seamless… look like Strauss and then morph into John Lunn”.
By the way, there’s another “Downton Abbey” movie coming up. Originally scheduled for December, it is now slated to premiere in March 2022.
Q: Can you tell me where “Holey Moley” is recorded, the time of year and the water temperature? I laugh when the contestants get soaked.
Reply: The show is performed in Santa Clarita, California, at the Sable Ranch, a heavily used production location. According to ABC, the most recent season of “Holey Moley” was filmed earlier this year. I have no information on the water temperature.
Q: Why did Gregory Sierra, who played Chano in “Barney Miller,” quit the show after only two seasons. His character worked well with others.
