The president of the Kaduna Baptist Convention, Reverend Ishaya Jangado, for his part said the number of those abducted has not yet been determined.

“The incident happened this morning but we do not yet know the exact number of people who were kidnapped,” he told Channels Television on Sunday.

Sunday’s incident is the latest in a series of bandit attacks terrorizing Chikun and other LGAs in Kaduna.

These attacks, carried out over the years, have resulted in the deaths of scores and the kidnappings of hundreds across the state.

Disturbed by this trend, three suspected bandit informants were recently assaulted by a group of residents of the Zangon Aya community.

The incident happened on Monday last week in the Igabi local government area of the state.

The victims were identified as Abdullahi Mohammed Gobirawa, his wife Binta Abdullahi and his son Hassan Abdullahi.

After killing the three family members, the mob allegedly looted their property before setting their house on fire.

Condemning the attack, Governor Nasir El-Rufai called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and called on citizens to maintain order.

He also warned against stereotypes of all kinds and called for systematic use of established agencies.
